My Thoughts
A Ruff Royal Christmas by Karen Schaler is a cute holiday tale. I
enjoyed getting to know Princess Ava, Justin, and Stormy. Stormy is a scene stealer. He is a
lovable and mischievous puppy. I could
understand Princess Ava getting frustrated with Stormy when he destroyed the holiday
decorations. I liked the banter between Justin
and Princess Ava. I enjoyed seeing Ava
grow and change over the course of the story. This growth affected her
relationship with her mother, which was a wonderful benefit. There is plenty of
Christmas cheer in the story along with humor.
I thought Princess Ava’s inventions were clever. I was happy that the romance was clean (just
kissing). I saw the twist coming a mile
away, but I was surprised that Princess Ava did not catch on (of course, that
was the idea). The ending left me
smiling. A Ruff Royal Christmas is a festive
story with a party planned with
precision, ingenious inventions, a
playful puppy, a cheerful trainer, a dog gone astray, and a happy holiday.
