Guardian Ink LLC (September 5, 2022)

Paperback ‏ : ‎ 214 pages

Hi! I’m Dove Agnew, former successful dress designer who was living the high life in New York, until my sleazy business partner used my business to move his drugs, leaving me to pack my ruined reputation and move back home to the tiny town of Harland Creek.

Despite the setback, all was going relatively well until I found Gertrude Brown’s body on the floor of my mom’s quilt shop. Now, rumors are flying and all eyes are on me. I’m a murder suspect! Even my ex-boyfriend, the current chief of police, is suspicious of me.

Now, it’s up to me to clear my name and find out who the real killer is before someone else gets hurt. But I’m going to need help, and the Harland Creek Quilters, and a goat named Petunia, are just the group to get things done.

Welcome to the new series set in the beloved town of Harland Creek. With the quilting club ladies and a sidekick, which happens to be a goat, this book will keep you guessing and laughing out loud!

My Thoughts

The Mystery of the Tea Cup Quilt by Jodi Allen Brice is the debut of the Harland Creek Mystery Quilters series.  Dove Agnew has returned home after losing everything thanks to a duplicitous investor.  She is helping her mother catch up on the longarm quilting in her quilting shop.  Unfortunately, Dove lost her temper with Gertrude Brown who is the meanest woman in town.  The next morning Dove and her mother enter the back room at the shop so Dove can show her mother Gertrude’s finished quilt.  They find Gertrude dead on the floor.  The chief of police happens to be Dove’s old high school boyfriend (she broke his heart).  He has Dove at the top of the suspect list.  Dove with help from her mother, the quilting ladies, and Petunia, the goat, sets out to solve the murder.

The Mystery of the Tea Cup Quilt is a lighthearted cozy mystery.  There is a quirky cast of characters that includes a goat who will eat anything.  I liked that Dove wore amusing t-shirts.  I liked the various t-shirts she wore with my favorite having the glow-in-the dark dog bone. The mystery is simple.  There is a handful of characters, a red herring, and helpful clues.  Dove along with her quilting sidekicks (and the goat) ask questions and look for clues.  There is an entertaining reveal, and all the threads are wrapped up at the end.  There is humor scattered throughout the story.  I liked how the author mentioned different quilt patterns and incorporated them into the mystery.  The Mystery of the Tea Cup Quilt is an upbeat cozy mystery with a greedy goat, a murdered meanie, a troubled business, a surplus of suspects, inquisitive quilters, and witty t-shirts.

The Mystery of the Tea Cup Quilt is available from AmazonKoboGoogle, and nook.  The next book in the Harland Creek Mystery Quilters series is The Mystery of the Drunkards Path which will be out on January 9, 2023.  You can find Jodi Allen Brice's other works here.  The author is hosting a giveaway as part of the tour.  You can win one of three signed copies of Mystery of the Tea Cup Quilt (sorry, but US Only).  Click here to enter or use the Rafflecopter form below.  Leave a comment for an extra entry.  Good Luck!  Thank you for stopping by today.  On Monday, I am a stop on the Celebrate Lit tour for Trusting Her Amish Heart by Cathy Liggett.  I hope that you have a relaxing weekend.  Take care and Happy Reading!
