Rachael’s Decision

I loved writing this series in a bakery setting, except I gained weight just reading about the desserts and found myself craving cakes and cookies. Rachael has an interesting past, and she has a loving heart. You’ll want to laugh with her and root for her. You’ll love Caleb, and you’ll root for him, too! This book has twists, turns, and it’s full of surprises.

The most fun I have is meeting readers like you who I consider friends through social media, at conferences, and that I’ve met at Amish talks, Amish Girlfriend Getaways, and many other places. If I wasn’t writing and speaking, I would’ve never met people like you. That’s what keeps me writing. Thank you so much for your interest in my books.

My daughter, Misty, had a little girl, Jolene, and she keeps me busy, and she’s so much fun. Some days, she sits on my lap, and we write together! Thank you for joining me here today! I hope you’ll connect with me on Facebook!

My Thoughts

Rachael’s Decision by Molly Jebber takes us back to Charm, Ohio in 1915 where Rachael Schlabach works at the Charm Bakery.  An accident cost Rachael her fiancĂ© and gave her a limp.  Since the death of Nathan Wagler’s wife, Rachael has been helping him with household chores and with his two kinner.  Rachael had hopes that Nathan would ask to court her, but he is still grieving.  One day Caleb Yutzy walks into the bakery.   Caleb is instantly attracted to Rachael.  He immediately asks her to share dinner with his family the next day.  When Caleb asks to court her, Rachael accepts, but she fails to share some news that might make him change his mind.  As Rachael begins spending time with Caleb, Nathan and his children miss her presence in their lives.  Nathan invites Rachael to dinner and asks if he can court her.  Rachael is torn between the two men.  Rachael will need God’s guidance so she can make the right decision.

Rachael’s Decision is the sixth book in the Amish Charm Bakery series.  It can be read as a standalone if you are new to the series.  The story contains good writing with realistic characters.  The story moved at a gentle pace.  There was a good flow to the story.  I enjoyed getting to know Rachael, Nathan, and Caleb.  Nathan’s children, Joy and Thad are sweethearts.  Joy stood out to me.  She is a precocious child.  I like that we get to catch up with the characters in the other Amish Charm Bakery novels including Sheriff Williams and Dr. Harrison.  I like how the author uses Sheriff Williams and Dr. Harrison’s having breakfast and reading the paper to add historical details.  I found Rachael’s Decision to be an emotional story.  It is a story that tugs at your heartstrings.  Faith was beautifully incorporated into the story.  The characters trust God and rely on Him to guide them.  I like that they pray about a decision before making it.  I like how the characters had the love and support of family, friends, and community.   Rachael’s Decision is a poignant tale with a caring community, a bevy of baked goods, a sweet suitor, two sweet kids, an upsetting secret, and a generous God.

More from Molly

Magdelena faces difficult decisions when having a difference of opinion with her parents. If she goes against them, she’ll face serious consequences.  Sometimes we have family situations that arise, and they require us to search our heart for how to deal with them. Toby also faces hardship, tragedy, and being judged wrongly by others. Toby and Magdelena are sure God has a plan for their lives, but they’re not sure if they are following his will. They pray for guidance. You’ll enjoy their friends and how they come into play in this story. We all have friends we love, and memories we make with them. They root for us. The same goes for this couple. You’ll wonder what will happen next, and just when you think things are better, something else happens. I hope you enjoy the story. Don’t forget to sign up for a chance to win the grand prize at the end of this tour!

My Thoughts

Travel back to 1914 to Charm, Ohio where Magdelena Beachy is hoping that Toby Schlabach will soon ask to court her.  Toby’s father is severely ill so that leaves Toby responsible for providing for his mother, father, and sister.  Toby works on the family farm plus makes beautifully crafted furniture that sells at Andrew’s shop in town.  Toby is intimidated by Mark Beachy’s wealth.  He wants to make sure he has enough saved up for land and a house before asking permission to court Magdelena.  Just when Toby is ready to approach Magdelena’s father, he learns that Mark has arranged a marriage for Magdelena to a newcomer.  Magdelena has always obeyed her parents, but this is the one time she is not willing to acquiesce.  Toby and Magdelena love each other.  Magdelena needs to make a choice.  Marry the man she loves and lose the family she holds dear or marry a man she does not love which will make for an unhappy marriage?

Magdelena’s Choice by Molly Jebber is the fifth novel in the An Amish Charm Bakery series.  Each book in An Amish Charm Bakery series can be read as a standalone.  If you read them in order, it will allow you to become immersed in Charm and the lives of the ladies who work at the bakery.  I thought Magdelena’s Choice contained good writing, and the story moved along at a steady pace.  I like the characters in the story.  I thought they were realistic, and their attitudes suited the time period.  We get to meet Abram and Annie Hook who have just moved to Charm.  Toby and Magdelena befriend the couple.  We get to catch up with the characters from the other four novels in the series.  I thought this was a clean, sweet Amish romance.  I was not a fan of the repetition.  Certain details are repeated over and over.  I liked the issues raised in Magdelena’s Choice.  Sometimes you need to be patient and wait for God’s timing.  In the meantime, you must pray and continue to do good works.  Charity Beachy was a delight.  She is such a precocious child.  She certainly knows who she wants to marry when she is old enough.  I thought Charity and Peter were adorable together.  I like how people supported Magdelena and Toby.  It can be hard to be obedient when you want to follow your heart.  The delicious items at the bakery will have your mouth watering.  You will find yourself craving whoopie pies and snickerdoodles.  Magdelena’s Choice is a charming Amish tale with scrumptious pastries, a clever and crafty Charity, an insistent suitor, a forceful father, compassionate mates, and a firm faith.

More from Molly

Hi Readers!

You are the reason I write. Your inspiration and encouragement on social media posts brighten my mood and on those hard days of writing, keeps me going. Thank you!

I’ve been fortunate to have a close family. I hear so often, you can choose your friends but not your family. Maryann in MARYANN’S HOPE loves her mother, but finds her a challenge with her unpredictable moods. When she meets Andrew, they both must make difficult decisions throughout their courtship relating to family and seeking God’s will for their lives. Maryann’s toddler, Betsy, will make you laugh, as well as other children of her friends in the story. The bakery desserts will make your mouth water, and you’ll imagine the aroma of cinnamon, sugar, and warm bread.

The Amish Charm Bakery is where friends come to enjoy a break, share secrets, solve problems, and laugh and cry.

On a personal note, this year has been an exciting one for our family in spite of COVID-19. My daughter, Misty, is getting married, and we love our future son-in-law, Kevin. They are having a small wedding due to the virus, but it hasn’t dampened any of our enthusiasm for this special day. God has blessed all of us with making all the plans go smoothly, and they’ve enjoyed their marriage counseling with Pastor Roger.

Pastor Roger asked them to put their first name in the verses in Corinthians Chapter 13 of the Bible, as an example of how they should feel about each other. Such as Misty is patient, and Misty is kind. I thought about that in my marriage to Ed. He is all those wonderful things to me. But I need to be more patient! So I’m learning along with Misty and Kevin! LOL

I pray that MARYANN’S HOPE will bring you a fun escape into the small Amish town of Charm, Ohio during the period of 1913-1914!

My Thoughts

Maryann’s Hope by Molly Jebber takes us back to 1913 in Charm, Ohio where Maryann Harding and Andrew Wittmer have begun courting.  Maryann never thought she would find a man who would overlook her past.  When Andrew proposes, Maryann is thrilled to accept.  Andrew is a good man who loves her, adores her daughter, and openly communicates with her.  She is glad they will be living in Charm because her mother could not handle it if they left town.  Wedding plans have barely begun when Andrew receives a letter from his uncle who lives about ten miles away (over three hours away by buggy).  His uncle is ill and would like Andrew to take over the furniture store.  It is a dream come true for Andrew who has dreamed of having a store where he could sell the furniture he makes.  But Andrew wonders how this will affect his relationship with Maryann.  Andrew also worries about the secret he has yet to share with Maryann.  She shared her secrets with him, but he held back despite knowing how important trust is to Maryann.  Is there a chance for these star-crossed lovers?  Maryann’s Hope is the 4th novel in The Amish Charm Bakery series.  Each book in the series can be read on its own.  We do, though, get to catch up with the characters from the other three books.  I thought Maryann’s Hope was well-written with realistic characters.  I like how the author incorporates historical events and interesting facts (with the sheriff and local doctor).  The author delves into the topic of mental illness and how it affects a family.  I thought it was handled nicely.  Second chances, destructiveness of secrets, and importance of trust are the themes present throughout the book.  Open communication is important for a couple.  Keeping information from a partner can be damaging to a relationship.  I like how the author handled these issues.  Christian elements are nicely incorporated into the story.  The importance of trusting God and knowing that he has a path laid out for each of us.  Maryann’s Hope is a gently paced story that I enjoyed reading.  I appreciated the epilogue at the end.  Maryann’s Hope is a sweet Amish novel with tasty treats, stressful secrets, trouble trusting, a mentally ill mother, fine furniture, and romantic misfortunes.

Giveaway

To celebrate her tour, Molly is giving away the grand prize package of a $75 Amazon gift card and an Amish doll.  Be sure to comment on the blog stops for nine extra entries into the giveaway! Click here to enter.  Good Luck!  Maryann's Hope publishes January 26 and it can be pre-ordered from Amazon*.  You can find the other novels in The Amish Charm Bakery series here.  Thank you for joining me today.  Tomorrow I am reviewing The Transylvania Twist by Angie Fox.  It is the 2nd book in The Monster MASH Trilogy.   I hope that you have a optimistic day.  Take care, be kind, and Happy Reading!
