Shattered Amish Identity by Mary Alford

Shattered Amish Identity
Book Summary

The key to her survival lies hidden within her memories.

When Amish school teacher Hannah York is attacked, she defends herself with skills she never knew she had. CIA agent Titus Miller arrives, claiming that she’s actually fellow agent Lara Redmond—and that she’s in danger from a powerful enemy. Despite suffering from amnesia, Hannah is certain she’s only ever lived a quiet Amish life. But why does Titus seem so familiar, and could it be true that he loved her once? When Hannah’s family is abducted, she and Titus must work together to find them. Can Hannah trust him to help unlock the truth of her past…and keep her safe?

From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.
My Thoughts

Mary Alford's Shattered Amish Identity is a gripping read that immediately pulled me into the story. I enjoyed returning to Rachel’s Crossing, Kentucky. Hannah and Titus are developed and believable characters that I enjoyed.  Hannah was unable to recall her past and relied on her brother to furnish her with accurate details.  I loved Nala,  Hannah’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, who protected her.  The danger, suspense, and mystery kept things lively.  You never knew what would happen next (those bad keys kept popping up, it reminded me of whack-a-mole).  I enjoyed the second chance romance. A thread of faith is nicely woven throughout the story.  The story had a satisfying finale.  Shattered Amish Identity is a suspenseful story with a snatched sibling, missing memories, menacing criminals, a protective pooch, blocked calls, a chilling climate, a dangerous Dragon, and having faith.

Shattered Amish Identity is available from Amazon*. Mary Alford has Unsolved Amish Abduction coming out March 31, 2026.  You can find Mary Alford's other novels here. Thank you for dropping by today.  I will return on Tuesday, November 4 with Saving Daniel's Daughter by Mindy Steele. As a string of new murders unfolds, can they expose this deadly plot before Kara is silenced forever?

From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.
My Thoughts

Texas Christmas Cover-Up by Terri Reed grabbed my attention right away. It is a fast-paced story set during the holiday season. The author’s vivid descriptions of South Padre Island allowed me to envision it.  I enjoyed getting to know Kate, Jeremy, and Kate’s daughter, Emily.  I also liked Jeremy’s family.  They did not hesitate to help Kate and her daughter and do their best to make it a pleasant holiday for the pair. I enjoyed the mystery (I love solving whodunits).  There are clues, twists and turns, and a red herring or two.  I zeroed in on who I thought was the guilty party, and I could not wait to see if I was correct. The action kept things lively. Texas Christmas Cover-Up combines mystery, suspense, family, romance, and faith into an engaging story.

Texas Christmas Cover-Up is available from Amazon*.  You can find Terri Reed's other novels here. If you follow Terri Reed on Amazon, they will email you when she has a new book release. Thank you for joining me today.  I will return on Thursday, October 30 with Shattered Amish Identity by Mary Alford.  It is hard to believe that Halloween is almost here. My Thoughts

Missing at Christmas by Deena Alexander is a gripping holiday novel that features a high level of action. The narrative demonstrates effective writing and maintains a consistent pace throughout.  Lexi and Noah are engaging main characters who face danger immediately after meeting.  The plot is tightly crafted with unexpected twists and secrets. The theme of faith is consistently integrated throughout the narrative.  The author's descriptions made the settings feel vivid and real.  I especially enjoyed the epilogue which nicely wrapped up the story.  Missing at Christmas is a suspenseful story with a slain sister, a taken twin, a dangerous dad, a protective private detective, a worrisome will, battling a blizzard, and finding a way forward.

My Daughter's Baby by Kate Hewitt

 My Daughter's Baby
Book Summary

As I hold my daughter’s newborn baby to my chest, my heart breaks knowing she didn’t live to meet her son. Someone will need to raise this child, but who will fight the hardest?

When I get the call my estranged daughter Sophie is in labor and that there are complications, I can barely breathe. It’s been months since I spoke to her—I had no idea she was even pregnant. I rush to the hospital, tears streaming down my face. But as I run through the hospital doors and see the nurses’ faces, I realize I am already too late.

I look down at the precious baby she left behind, swaddled in a blanket with perfect rosy cheeks. My husband and I could give him a stable, loving home. It would be a second chance for us. Because we didn’t get it right with Sophie—no matter how hard we tried, I know we failed her. This is our chance to finally make things right.
But then I meet the tear-filled gaze of my son-in-law, Tom, and realize it isn’t going to be that simple. He is the reason we didn’t have a relationship with our daughter. My husband is sure his troubled past will mean we get custody. But now Sophie is gone, is it time to give Tom a second chance? Or is it foolish to trust someone we don’t even know?

My chest aches as I realize I have no idea what Sophie would have wanted, or even what I truly want. Because I have secrets of my own… secrets that Tom doesn’t know and never should. Should I fight to raise my daughter’s baby myself, even if it costs me everything?

An unforgettable, gripping and suspenseful novel that shines a light on what it truly means to be a family. Perfect for readers who enjoy emotional fiction, and for fans of Jodi Picoult, Liane Moriarty and Diane Chamberlain.

About the Author

My Thoughts

My Daughter’s Baby by Kate Hewitt is an emotional and engaging story. It is a family drama that explores grief, the different ways people cope with the loss of a loved one, and complicated family dynamics.  When we first meet the characters, we get one impression of them.  Initial impressions of the characters evolve as we discover their deeper qualities.  The story reveals more about the characters as they grow and their relationships evolve.  Prejudices are tested by those on both sides of the cultural divide, and we get to see how their presumptions change.  I did feel the ending was a tad rushed, and I was left with a couple of unanswered questions (it was a still a sweet ending).  My Daughter’s Baby is a poignant tale about a bewildering loss, a baby boy, an unforeseen house guest, first impressions, baby blues, a returning parent, and finding a way forward.

My Daughter’s Baby is available from Amazon*.  If you subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, My Daughter's Baby is included.  You can find Kate Hewitt's other novels here.    Kate Hewitt has The Bed and Breakfast by the Sea coming out November 15.  If you follow Kate Hewitt on Amazon, they will send you an email when she has a new book release. Thank you for dropping by today.  On Tuesday, October 28, I am a stop on the Great Escapes Virtual Book Tours with Missing at Christmas by Deena Alexander. There are some great books coming out next week (A few of them are The Tattered Cover by Ellery Adams, Texas Christmas Cover-Up by Terri Reed, C is for Courting by Shelley Shepard Gray, Murder by the Millions by Daryl Wood Gerber, and Shattered Amish Identity by Mary Alford). I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.  Take care and Happy Reading!

Snowbound Threat by Lisa Phillips, Mary Alford, and Jessica Ashley

 Snowbound Threat
Book Summary

Left for dead by a treacherous DEA team, Caleb Rourke returns to his quiet hometown in Montana, seeking to escape his troubled past. When his neighbor, Tessa Langley, discovers encrypted documents hidden in her father's secret safe, Caleb’s return takes a perilous turn. He soon realizes that both his enemies and an enigmatic ally know exactly where to find him. Tessa's family becomes a target for those intent on keeping the truth buried. Determined to protect her, Caleb confronts the secrets his own parents concealed for years. Together, they must rely on their faith, each other, and a God who sees what remains hidden. This Christmas isn’t just about the holiday—it’s about the future they could build together.

In the snowbound town of Pine Haven, Colorado, Charlie Wells returns home to settle her uncle’s estate—and stumbles into a chilling mystery. Fifteen years earlier, her best friend Abby vanished during a midnight meeting. Now, someone is determined to keep the past buried at any cost. As a deadly blizzard isolates the town, Charlie and deputy Ryan McCabe race to uncover the truth behind Abby’s disappearance and a string of deadly secrets tied to Charlie’s tragic past. But the closer they get, the more dangerous their search becomes—and the killer watching from the shadows will stop at nothing.

Ten years after her husband’s plane crash, Beckett Wallace receives proof it wasn’t an accident. To find the truth, she must team up with Detective Shawn Sampson—the guarded man she hoped never to see again. He hasn’t forgotten the sharp-tongued lawyer who nearly wrecked his last case. Working together is a terrible idea… but their only shot. As danger closes in and sparks fly, the truth might cost them everything. And for Shawn, protecting Beckett may mean risking more than his badge—it may cost him his heart.

My Thoughts

Snowbound Threat contains three romantic suspense stories by Lisa Phillips, Mary Alford, and Jessica Ashley.  I enjoyed the three suspenseful stories.  Home by Lisa Phillips is a fast-paced novella.  I was quickly drawn into the story involving Tessa and Caleb.  I loved all the action, intrigue, and suspense.  There is romance as well.  Silent Snowfall Secrets by Mary Alford captured my attention immediately.  I felt for Charlie who felt responsible for the death of her friend. The case remains unresolved fifteen years later.  Charlie returns home after the death of her uncle, and it appears that the killer has her in his sights.  I liked the sections from the killer’s point of view.  The story has danger, action, mystery, suspense, romance, and faith.  Critical Velocity by Jessica Ashley grabbed my attention right away and held it until the end.  The story moved at a quick clip.  There is danger, secrets, faith, and romance.   I loved the epilogue.  This is the first book that I have read by Jessica Ashley, and it is definitely not going to be the last.  I enjoyed the three thrilling tales in Snowbound Threat.

Snowbound Threat comes out October 24 and it can be pre-ordered from Amazon*.  If you are a member of Kindle Unlimited, you can read it for freeSnowbound Threat is the first book in the Do You Hear What I Hear seriesNoel Secrets, the second book in the Do You Heart What I Hear series, comes out November 14 and it can be pre-ordered on Amazon.  Mary Alford has Shattered Amish Identity coming out October 28 and it is a page turner!  Thank you for joining me today.  I will return on Thursday, October 23 with My Daughter's Baby by Kate Hewitt.  I hope that you have a joyful day.  Take care and Happy Reading!

In a beautiful mountain community near Asheville, North Carolina, caterer and personal chef Allie Catt serves up mouthwatering, literary-themed dinner parties inspired by her clients’ favorite books. Her next event is sure to be a roaring success—if a murderer isn’t a killjoy . . .

If it were true that the best thing a girl can be in this world is a fool, then Allie Catt would be out of luck. Fortunately, Allie’s business is a smashing success. And following her Pride and Prejudice event, grander plans await . . .

Feast for the Eyes bookstore manager and Allie’s best friend, Tegan, is hosting a book club soiree and wants it to be a glittering affair based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic Jazz Age-set novel, The Great Gatsby. Soon, Art Deco table settings and visions of flappers are dancing the Charleston in their heads. Even Tegan’s prickly sister, Vanna, is on board. And surely, Allie’s tuxedo cat, Darcy, thinks it’s the cat’s meow. Amid the planning, charismatic developer Jason Gardner arrives in town to buy some historic buildings on Main Street. He, too, has plans: to create a modern mall. Allie is more than concerned. She even wants to protest. But when Jason invites her to cater a lavish party, she finds him surprisingly likable. Then she’s summoned to his estate for a meeting—and finds him dead.

Once again Allie’s landed in the middle of a crime scene. Worse, one of her earrings is later discovered near the body. And when police learn she was upset about the mall, she’s suspect #1. Allie’s blossoming sleuthing skills once cleared Tegan’s name, but can she save herself—before a killer writes her a not-so-great Gatsbyesque ending . . .

My Thoughts

Murder by the Millions by Daryl Wood Gerber has Allie Catt and Allie’s best friend and partner in the bookstore, Tegan, planning a Great Gatsby themed party.  Unfortunately, a murdered real estate developer put a crimp in their plans especially when the evidence points to Allie as the killer.  I have read every book that Daryl Wood Gerber has written, and I always look forward to her new releases.  I like the author’s friendly writing style which makes her stories easy to read.  There is a quote from The Great Gatsby before each chapter,  and I liked seeing similarities to the story.  Allie is a likeable character as is Tegan and Chloe, their bookstore clerk.  We get to learn what goes into planning a themed party.  I loved the descriptions of the clothes that Lillian, a local boutique owner, obtained for the guests to wear to the party (there are some beautiful gowns).  Allie researched the foods that were popular in the 1920s  and she talks about the delectable treats she is  going to whip up for the guests (recipes for some of the items at the end of the book).

The whodunit has Allie at the top of the suspect list.  Allie with help from her “Clue Crew” set out to identify the real killer.  There are a handful of suspects, pointed clues, some twists and turns, and a red herring or two.  There is a good reveal that nicely wraps up the whodunit. I love solving mysteries (keeps the brain sharp).  I identified who I thought was the guilty party early in the story, and I could not wait for the reveal to see if I was right (my mother says that I have read too many mysteries).  I enjoyed my visit to Bramblewood, and I was sorry when it came to an end.  Murder by the Millions is a delectable cozy with party planning, a dead developer, flapper fashions, curious clues, tasty tidbits, a maddening detective, and a book bash.

Murder by the Millions comes out October 28 and can be ordered from AmazonBarnes and NobleBookshop.org, Kobo, and Mysterious GalaxyThe first book in A Literary Dining Mysteries is Murder on the Page. Daryl Wood Gerber has A Jingle of Justice, A Fairy Garden Mystery Novella, coming out December 1 (you can read it for free if you are a member of Kindle Unlimited). Murder in a Lavender Daze will be out on April 28, 2026 and it is the second book in An Aroma Wellness Mysteries.  If you follow Daryl Wood Gerber on Amazon, they will send you an email when she has a new book release.

I am off to work in my garden and visit with the ducks.  My yard and carport have become the ducks hangout.  At dusk, they waddle off to snooze by the lake (it is so cute to see them waddling off single file).  I hope that you have a swell day!  Take care and Happy Reading!
