About the Book

Book:  God Sees Her

Author: Our Daily Bread

Genre:  Devotional

Release Date: March 3, 2020

Following the overwhelming success and rave reviews of God Hears Herwe’re bringing you another devotional written by women for women to reassure you that God is with you. God Sees Her is a beautifully styled gift book containing 366 meditations with accompanying Scripture that speak to the heart of women.

The title comes from a story in an Old Testament book of the Bible—Genesis—where Hagar is on the run, alone in the desert with nowhere to go. The angel of the Lord finds her and calls her by name. After this encounter, Hagar exclaimed, “You are the God who sees me” (Genesis 16:13). Women today need this same assurance . . . God sees you, God knows you by name, and God cares about every detail of your life.

Let these short Our Daily Bread devotionals written by women like you wash over your soul and remind you each day that God is near. The handy size, ribbon marker, and decorative cover make it perfect for gift giving to your girlfriends too.

My Thoughts

God Sees Her by Our Daily Bread is a heartwarming devotional.  I like how each devotion has a story or experience with related scripture with it all tied together.  They help a woman get through each day with food for thought.  The devotionals are encouraging and positive.  I also thought they were meaningful, relevant to life today, and thought provoking.  It is nice that each one is short and easy to read, but the message will stay with you throughout the day.  I like the variety of authors who provided the devotions in this book which gives us different perspectives.  This compact devotional has a lovely cover with a ribbon bookmark.  God Sees Her is a great way to start the day.

‘Feels Like Home’ Winter Recipes

As the weather turns colder, it becomes the time to pull out those tried and true winter-time recipes. You know, the ones that make us (or even keep us) warm on the inside. This is the time for the food that just feels like home.
11 Cozy Photos of Fireplaces That Will Make You Want To Stay Inside All Winter
Kirsten Holmberg and Elisa Morgan from the God Hears Her blog have shared some of their families personal recipes. These are the ones that are good for everyone. Feel free to try them yourself, bookmark them for later, or share them with a friend.

God Hears Her

From Kirsten Holmberg:

In the winter, I’m partial to any slow-cooker soup or stew because I love coming home to it in the evening. My favorite is a Vegetarian Chili with some Italian influences:
A delicious low calorie Minestrone Soup that tastes way better than the Olive Gardens! | Littlespicejar.com @littlespicejar #soup #fallrecipes #minestronesoup
2 bell peppers, diced

2 stalks of celery, sliced

2 lb zucchini halved and sliced

1 lb fresh mushrooms, halved

1 large onion, diced

3 cans diced tomatoes (fire roasted or herbed for the most flavor)

1 can tomato sauce

1 small can black olives, sliced (or fresh in any amount desired)

1 can cannellini beans

2.5 teaspoon Italian seasoning

2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon fresh garlic, minced

½ cup water

Toss it all in a slow cooker for a few hours on high, or all day on low. Or, put it on the stove instead and simmer until the veggies are cooked through and the flavors blended (about 45 minutes). Parmesan cheese on top for an extra zing.  From The Avid Reader:  You can also serve this over pasta.

From Elisa Morgan:  A Cranberry Nut Bread recipe handed down by my mom, Paige Lee

Cranberry Nut Bread I Recipe - Allrecipes.com
2 cup flour

½ tsp salt

1 ¼ tsp baking powder

½ scant tsp baking soda

1 cup sugar

Sift above ingredients together twice. To the juice and grated rind of 1 large orange, add 2 tbs of melted shortening and enough boiling water to make ¾ cup. Mix with dry ingredients and add…

1 beaten egg

1 cup chopped pecans

1 cup halved fresh cranberries

Bake in greased loaf pan for 75 minutes at 350 degrees.  If you double the recipe, bake a little less time and use 3 loaf pans. It also makes good muffins and can be frozen.
Cranberry Nut Muffins Recipe -These are delicious, beautiful muffins. I serve them during the holidays or anytime cranberries are available. The leftovers always make good breakfast treats. Through the years I've tried many cranberry recipes for bread and muffins, but this remains my family's all-time favorite! —Flo Burtnett, Gage, Oklahoma

My Thoughts

God Hears Her:  365 Devotions for Women by Women by Our Daily Bread Ministries is a lovely devotional for women.  It has a beautiful hardcover with a page for each day of the year.  It is a compact size at 6 ½” by 4 ½” which makes it easy to take with you (if you desire) and it fits nicely on top of my Bible.  There is a foreword written by Elisa Morgan which I found enlightening.   On each day there is a scripture passage, a short story (in a way) or verse, and then a short devotional that relates to the scripture passage.  They are easy to read, and I found them encouraging.  Each page is thought provoking, enlightening and positive.  Reading each page is a great way to start or end a day (depending upon your schedule).  It would also provide a nice pick-me-up in the middle of the day.  I like that at the end there is information on the writers of God Hears Her.  God Hears Her is especially beneficial for those new to the faith, but seasoned Christians will find new insights (I know I did).   I am glad that I picked up God Hears Her as it is a wonderful addition to my daily devotions.

The Beautiful Word 365 Devotional

Hello!  I wanted to share my review of this lovely devotional with you. The Beautiful Word 365 Devotional has a page for each day of the year.  It is a lovely hardcover book (slightly padded cover) with a decorative cover (which is what captured my attention).  The book measures 8 ¼” by 6”.  The devotional is divided into months with a page for each day.  Each page has a scripture to read, discussion on the verse, and a prayer.  On each two-page spread there is a pretty artwork on the far left and the space for journaling or writing notes at the right.  The pages are made of nice quality glossy paper.  Perfect for writing notes in pen, and they will not bleed through (no room for coloring).  Using this devotional is a good way to start each day.  I appreciate the color illustrations and the book setup.  Each devotion is short but meaningful.  I am very happy with The Beautiful Word 365 Devotional.  I do wish that they had included a ribbon bookmark.  It is the only thing lacking in this attractive book.  This devotional would make a great gift to female friends and family members.

Pillow Stalk by Diane Vallere is currently available for $.99 (Kindle version).  It is the first book in A Madison Night Mystery series.  I hope you have a blessed day!  I will be reviewing Appetite for Innocence by Lucinda Berry on Wednesday.  Take care and Happy Reading!
