Cut Too Deep

Cut Too Deep by Marissa Farrar is a combination of suspense and romance book.  Jenna Armstrong is trying to get away from drunk boyfriend, Garrett.  They went out for the evening and Garrett is extremely drunk.  Jenna wants to drive home, but Garrett refuses.  Jenna tries to walk away when Garrett bodily shoves Jenna into the car.  Unfortunately, they get into accident.

One year later Jenna is continuously traveling.  She never stays in one place very long and avoids using credit cards.  Car breaks down near Arlington (not the one in Virginia, but a small town) and gets assistance from mechanic and garage owner, Ryker.

Ryker is attracted to Jenna, but Jenna cannot figure out why.  Jenna has body image issues.  She is curvy and voluptuous.  Jenna only sees herself as fat thanks to Garrett.  Garrett was always criticizing her and putting her down.  Jenna also has a large scar running down her body from the car accident.

Jenna is afraid to settle down for too long because Garrett will be getting out of jail soon and she knows that he will come after her.  Jenna testified against him at the trial (along with a witness) and Garrett will want revenge.  Getting to close to Ryker will jeopardize him as well as his little brother, Michael (Ryker is his brother’s guardian).

I give Cut Too Deep 3.75 out of 5 stars.  It is well-written but follows the standard “formula” for this type of book.  Marissa Farrar is a very good writer and, if you love romance books, you will enjoy Cut Too Deep.  I am a big fan of Marissa Farrar’s vampire books (The Serenity Series and Twisted Dreams).  Please be aware that Cut Too Deep does contain foul language, sex scenes, and violence.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from author in exchange for an honest review.

Leslie Ann Budewitz will have a new Spice Shop Mystery out in December.  It is called Guilty as Cinnamon!   The cover art is not yet available, but you can pre-order the book on Amazon.  Krista Davis will have a new Paws and Claws Mystery available on December 1.  It is called Murder Most Howl! (cover art not yet available).  Both are great series.

Have an enjoyable evening and Happy Reading!

Kris
